This simple activity was so fun for my 3 year old! She was ecstatic opening up the letters. It was as if each foil wrapped letter was a mystery present and she didn’t know what she was going to get.
She was able to work her fine motor skills by picking apart the foil. Once she got the letter out she was so excited to see what she got! I would then ask her what the letter was, what sound it made and what words started with that sound. She loves trying to think of words that begin with different letters, and includes some made up words of her own as well that she thinks is absolutely hilarious. She then has to use further letter recognition by matching the puzzle piece to it’s appropriate spot.
MOM HACK: write the lower case letters on your puzzle as well. She is constantly seeing both the upper and lower case which helps familiarize her with the letters and associate which ones go together. We refer to this puzzle often when trying to write letters or spell different words.
