DIY Paint Chip Word Puzzle

DIY_word_activity.JPG

Don’t you just love FREE developmental activities?! I know I do! Do yourself a favor, and next time you are at the grocery store, pick up some paint chips to use in so many awesome DIY activities! This one I decided that I wanted to have a 3 letter word starting with each letter in the alphabet (coming up with the list was harder than I expected! I drew a picture to match the word on each paint chip and then cut it into three separate pieces. This creates a fun mini puzzle affect where they can match the pictures, colors, and/or letters to create their words. My 3 year old loves this activity! She gets excited after she completes a puzzle and then tries to sound out the word she just created! We have so many awesome developmental conversations as we discuss the different letters, the sounds they make and then proceed to blend the letters together. She was amazed that she was already starting to read! She refers to these paint chips often to help her spell words and to simply have a fun puzzle activity.

(See a list of the words we used below!)
